The Syrian National Council (SNC) last week called upon a host of international bodies, including the United Nations and the Arab League, to establish safety zones and humanitarian corridors in Syria. So far, more than 5,000 people have been killed by the Assad regime since the Syrian revolution began in mid-March, with 250 civilians having recently been killed in devastating assaults in Idlib province and Homs. Despite the arrival of a delegation of Arab League observers in Syria this week, the regime shows absolutely no sign of wavering in its policy of mass murder, arbitrary arrests and torture of peaceful protestors including women and children.
